Samsung shows off the capabilities of the Galaxy S24 Ultra camera in a unique way. The latest flagship cellphone from Samsung was flown into the stratosphere to take photos from extreme heights.

Techviral reports Samsung installed four Galaxy S24 Ultras into specially designed carbon fiber cages, which were then placed in four different helium-powered balloons.

These balloons were flown from the Grand Canyon, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains to capture the diverse landscape of the west coast of the United States.

The balloons carried the Galaxy S24 Ultra to a height of 120,000 feet or around 36 km. Technically, the Galaxy S24 Ultra does not reach outer space, the limit of which is 100 km, but the distance reached is quite high because you can already see the curvature or curvature of the Earth.

Flexion Hinge N3 Flip also creates screen crease marks that are less visible than on the Z Flip 5. The crease marks are of course still visible, but they are clearly more minimal. Oh yes, both the N3 Flip and Z Flip 5 screens can be closed tightly without any gaps.


The N3 Flip uses a 6.8 inch LTPO AMOLED panel, slightly larger than the Z Flip 5 which uses a 6.7 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X. Both have FHD+, 120Hz and HDR10+ resolution. However, on paper, this Samsung screen has a higher brightness level, namely 1,750 nits compared to 1,600 nits on the Oppo.

System on a chip and battery

The system on a chip (SoC), or commonly referred to as the processor, used by these two cellphones comes from different manufacturers. Samsung chose Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 from Qualcomm, while Oppo chose Dimensity 9200 from MediaTek.

Both use 4nm architecture, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage. The N3 Flip RAM has a capacity of 12GB, while the Z Flip 5 only has 8GB. How’s the performance? From Tech Viral testing, the AnTuTu Find N3 Flip score reached one million. So, even though it is a folding screen cellphone, its performance is still fast and you can even play heavy games like Genshin Impact smoothly. And of course, you can get through daily use without slowing down, with satisfactory battery life.

In the battery sector, the N3 Flip is quite superior because it has a larger capacity battery and greater charging support. Namely 3,700 mAh versus 4,300 mAh, and 25W charger versus 44W. However, the Z Flip 5 supports wireless charging up to 15W and reverse wireless charging 4.5W. Another advantage of Oppo is that it includes a charging adapter that is much larger than the 65Watt power the device receives.


In this section, it must be admitted that Oppo has quite a big advantage. Samsung will only launch the Galaxy S24 series in early 2024. However, leaked specifications for the Galaxy S Ultra for the next few years have begun to be revealed.

This leak comes from tipster Tech_Reve in his post on Twitter/X. He shared a leak of the camera roadmap for the Galaxy S Ultra, up to the Galaxy S26 Ultra which will be released in 2026.

Starting from the Galaxy S24 Ultra which will be released next year, Tech_Reve said this cellphone will use a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera with a 0.7µm pixel size. For comparison, the Galaxy S23 Ultra currently has a 10 MP telephoto camera with 1.12µm.

Tech_Reve does not reveal the zoom capabilities of this telephoto lens. Leaks about the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s periscope camera are quite confusing, some claim the optical zoom capability is up to 3x and some claim up to 5x.

Switch to the Galaxy S25 Ultra which will be released in two years. Tech_Reve claims this cellphone will get the biggest camera upgrade. The main camera will use a new lens and the ultrawide camera will be increased to 50 MP (up from 12 MP on the Galaxy S23 and S24 Ultra).

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will most likely use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Qwaider claims this cellphone will have a larger vapor chamber cooling system which can keep the chipset temperature 1.9 times cooler than the previous generation.

Samsung is predicted to release the Galaxy S24 series in mid-January 2024 at an event held in San Jose, California. According to rumors circulating, Samsung will not increase the price of the Galaxy S24 series to remain competitive.

What’s more interesting is that the chipset is said to use the Xclipse 530 GPU based on AMD RDNA2. It should be much more powerful than the Mali GPU on previous Exynos chips and could even potentially offer ray tracing in games.

Galaxy S25 Reportedly Will Abandon Samsung Camera Sensor

Samsung has always used its ISOCELL sensor for the main camera of the Galaxy S series. But next year it looks like that trend will change.

According to a leak from tipster Tech_Reve, Samsung will reportedly abandon the ISOCELL sensor for the main camera of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+. Instead, they will use a camera sensor from Sony.

Samsung has increased the capabilities of the Galaxy S22’s main camera from 12 MP to 50 MP using the ISOCELL GN3 sensor. The same sensor is also used in the Galaxy S23, and will be used by the Galaxy S24.

It is not yet known what Sony sensors the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ will use. It is not impossible that the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ will use a camera sensor that is larger than the ISOCELL GN3.

But that doesn’t mean the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ will use the 1 inch Sony IMX989 sensor. Sony itself has an IMX890/LYT-700 sensor which is similar in size to the ISOCELL GN3.

Information Of  Samsung S25

Tech_Reve does not provide information regarding the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s main camera. Considering that Sony does not offer a 200 MP camera sensor, it is likely that Samsung will still use its own camera sensor for the main camera of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

In a separate tweet on Twitter/X, Tech_Reve once claimed that Samsung was developing a 1 inch ISOCELL camera sensor with 0.8 µm pixels, dual-pixel autofocus, and crop zoom in the sensor. However, the model number of this camera sensor is not revealed, as quoted from SamMobile (5/12/2023).

Keep in mind that these are just early rumors that have not been confirmed by Samsung. The launch of the Galaxy S25 series is still more than a year away, so there will likely still be many changes.

Samsung itself is preparing to launch the Galaxy S24 series which will reportedly be introduced in mid-January 2024. The specifications of the three cellphones in this line have been leaked, which indicates that the camera capabilities have not changed much compared to the Galaxy S23 series.
